Numpty Physics for Symbian

The fabulous NumptyPhysics game by Tim Edmonds for Linux and Internet Tablets. It was also one of my favo0rite games on N810, and now it’s ported to your  Symbian^1 phones 🙂
Numpty Physics is a drawing puzzle game in the spirit (and style?) of Crayon Physics using the same excellent Box2D engine.
Keys:

  • stylus/finger   –   draw a new stroke
  • tap proximity sensor   –   undo last stroke
  • volume up   –   menu
  • volume down  –    reset level to initial state
  • long tap left/right corners to get extra menu options (you really don’t need these)

Great Game. But i can’t access the Menu. I am using a N97.
What exactly do you mean by “long tap left/right corners to get extra menu options”
I tried tapping and holding one corner then two corners than all four.
But i always ended up drawing something … I’d apprechiate if you could tell me how to do it the right way
    Thanks,
    Thomas

It begins to lag on my 5800 when I have a few objects (about 4+) on the screen. I am not sure if it is a port issue or simple hardware limitations.

Probe version with sound and is very good too …
that’s why I wanted to ask if it is in your plans out a new version to improve the sound.
Now let me thank you for creating this and all
    the emulators you’ve created.
    Good luck with your work.

  25. Strathos says:

Thanks a lot, Summeli! I had been looking for a port for a while.
The game runs great., although it goes slow when you draw many figures, but I guess that’s to be expected due to hardware limitations (Nokia 5800).
Always a fan of your work!

  28. Mox says:

Hey summeli remember i posted on this forum a while back ? I told you that im trying to write a Nds emulator for mobiles. I’ve been testing it out on my n8 since the 13 of October. Oh dunno i feel like giving up summeli. Its just too much work. It feels as though some bineries have affected my brain :P. Some roms work though to some extent. And it looks great on my n8 but man i still have so much work to do. I also managed to get an understanding of the Nds touch software so the emulator doesnt have any buttons even yet. I was thinking of not Having any in the first place. A little advice summeli ? From your expertise? I think im going blind by staring at the monitor for so long. And i need to get some sleep . Maybe that will help :P. And its so frustrating when you think your done and the bloody program plays up at the last minute

    • Summeli says:

The NDS has resistive touch, so you could just listen at “mouse click” events in Qt, and wrap those ones into the emulator’s touch events.
I have a pretty nice button solution coming with the multitouch, but I’m waiting for the QGLWidget dll’s from Qt/Nokia.

  29. Armorant says:

5230. Slows on 3rd level (jumping rope).

  30. Mox says:

You know summeli feel like giving this up and porting Nds emulator for the psp onto symbian. Now my only problem is to obtain a source code. What do you think i should do?

  31. Mox says:

Oh and btw gpsp keeps crashing on my n8. Any particular reason?

  32. Mox says:

No summeli my point is if i shud continue writing my own nds emulator or shud i port one to symbian ? In both ,most probably, it’ll only support S^3

  33. Mox says:

But hyper x said that it supports S^3…….. Hmmm……..

  34. Mox says:

Mmmmmmm ok man thanx for the advice. I’ll won’t post in a while cuz i need to get to work. But maybe in a week. Thanx again summeli

  35. Poon says:

I got “System Error -11″, the phone got locked up and nothing could be done. Had to reboot the phone to stop it. I use Nokia C6-00, firmware v.11.0.029. Is there anything I should try to get it to work? I’d really love to get this game working on my phone.

  36. Rita says:

    thanks for all ports !
I tested my gpsp on my nokia 5230 and the patched games dont run..
I tried somes and for example the dragon warrior monsters jp ( usa fix) dont run :'(
Theres any solution about this ?

  37. Mox says:

Hey summeli! I’m back after a long while! And guess what? I’ve been ripping apart avatar hd and asphalt 5 and have extracted their button and key mapping from them! Oh and btw i even managed to fuse it to gpsp and it works like charm. Unfortunately gpsp only works on my 5233 and not on N8 . I would love to see how gba graphics would look full sized on the N8. And incase your wondering……… Yes I’m crap in porting …….. Urrhh its sooooo frustrating and just cant seem to get by without it and im sick of depending on my friend who helps me in it. Man just wish you would release that gpsp that supports S^3

  38. Mox says:

Yeah i noticed. Its pretty difficult to miss it. Just thought of doin it out of desperation cuz im sick of being stuck in one place. Well anyways good luck with your work!

  39. Mox says:

  41. Lars says:

    Hi, all!
I didn’t know where to post. My questions are about Symbian^3 so I chose Numpty Physics, because it’s available for S3.
My questions: When will you finish working on the GBA emulator, Summeli?
And is it possible to create a NDS/NDSi emulator for S3?
    Thanks in anticipation!

  42. Menace says:

  46. evilhawk00 says:

Hi dude, maybe i got the point of Why Numpty physics has problems on vivaz\vivaz pro……..
It is said that NumptyPhysics supports vivaz\ vivaz pro, but after tested , it doesnt start…
As i have known , NumptyPhysics is ported by SDL …….. first, i thought maybe is open GL Video problem, so i installed a lot of libraries ,i installed these:
    1. SDL Library 2.03(1)
    2. Symbian OS STDIOSERVER 1.03(0)
    3. Open C LIBSSL Common 1.07(0)
    4. Standard C++ library Common 1.07(0)
    5. PIPS 1.7 (extracted from QT 4.71 installer which includes a version for SE)
    6. Open C GLIBRARY Common ( already in the firmware of vivaz\vivaz pro, no need to install)
Also , my vivaz pro already installed QT 4.71 before……….
    7. QT 4.71
    8. sqlite3 0.50(0)
    9. Qtwebkit 4.71
But it doesnt works, and i extracted the SIS package and found a .ttf file,Wow! A font file! Guess what? There are some HD games for symbian^3 includes .ttf files , these games doesnt use system fonts but use it’s own fonts, All these kinds of game on vivaz all cause problem!(vivaz has 720 mhz cpu , so i am sure it’s not memory problem!) And i mean, vivaz is symbian^1 , and all of the games which use it’s own fonts are all for symbian^3…………so i really can’t get the point why Numpty Physics supports 5800…….
Other games ported by SDL such (which use system fonts )doesnt have any problem on vivaz \vivaz pro, works great! Touching Okay, Hardware Query Keyboard Okay, EveryThing is Okay.
I think this is the difference between Nokia brand and SE brand…….Maybe the method of using i .ttf file is different…………so how about just release a version which use system fonts for vivaz? I think this may works well.
    Best regards,
    evilhawk00
