gpsp running on Symbian

I have the gpsp port already running on my N97, and it looks really promising. Take a look at the video πŸ™‚
The dynarec isn’t stable yet. I can run one track with mario kart, and then it freezes.Β  It’s same with all other games too. I hope to solve this freeze/crash issue soon, so I can make the release.

    Damn, why i choose 5530 instead of 5800… T_T

  3. iRaptor says:

The graphics looks really cool! Better than Snes. Gpsp is an emulator of GameBoy Advance, am I right?

  4. Tom says:

will you also make the s60v3 version?

    • Summeli says:

I’m currently using S60 5.0 phone, and I’m looking forward to the Symbian^3 and N8, so the old S60v3 is really low on my TODO list.
If I would make it, then I would support only 3.1 and 3.2. The Qt isn’t working at all on 3.0. I still have N95 and N96, so I would have some phones to test with, but as I said, the old phones are really low on my current TODO list.

    wow nice work summeli
I have one question are you working on a s60 v3 release of antsness for the nokia n8

  6. Acid says:

Please Summeli, don’t leave us s60v3 users out in the cold. Your work is amazing and should be appreciated by the most people possible. Besides, some people (me included) can’t afford to upgrade their older phones. I’ve been using my n81 for 2 years now. Not getting GPSP is disheartening. πŸ™

Mr Summeli: Please do not forget about real time clock on your GBA emulator……..

    gpsp thought psp emulator…
    thx it looks really good.

  9. Thomas says:

    hi summeli,
Qt can only full install on nokia phones. on other phones it install only a part of Qt. Now my question. Can you send all QT files that installed on your N97. Maybe the missing files can easy copy on the other Phones. i dont know if it works but we can test it, or?
    Thomas

  10. Thomas says:

Yes the install is not the Problem on my i8910. but only a part of Qt. Not every part of Qt is signed for all Phones. How SWEvent capability and so on. This is the reason that runs the QT demos but the AntsnesQt not. I hope it comes a Qt Version that is for all devices.
    Thomas

  11. Thomas says:

You can not signed the Qt 4.6 for other Phones? I have read the artikel but there is no solution for the Problem. Qt must complet signed for other Phones. (all part of Qt must signed for other devices)

  12. Thomas says:

Yes itΒ΄s right summeli but without the Hardware keys it is useless. How i say i hope it comes a full Qt version for all Phones. I wait for the Qt 4.7. Maybe this Version is for all Phones.

  13. Thomas says:

i have think the Qt 4.7 is the next Version. Then i hope the Qt version 4.6.3 comes soon. πŸ˜‰ and support all Phones. By the way summeli the new gpsp looks realy great.

  14. Thomas says:

do you know when QT 4.7 comes, summeli??

  15. Thomas says:

    ok. Then we wait. πŸ™‚

  16. Joris says:

Great work, Summeli, but looking forward for a N82/N95 etc. version

  17. Mr. Random says:

Will this work on phones with only touch screen and no buttons? Like the Nokia 5800 and 5230?

    • sq says:

no buttons? what do you think the green/white/red/volume +/volume -/camera keys are? candy?
even the 5530 got at the very least both volume keys and the camera shutter (that also can count as two if you wish: focus and snap). nobody’s telling you that these keys are comfortable for gaming, however.

      • Sudo Nim says:

I meant no real number keys that you can use to play games and stuff since those phones are practically operated by the touch screen…Or can the keys you mentioned be used to play the emulator

  18. Thomas says:

no you need minimum one Hardwarebutton. Because symbian S60 V5 Phones have no multitouch.

  19. Thomas says:

Hi summeli the old Antsnes 0.7 can you not make with Hardwarebuttons, or?
    Thomas

  20. Thomas says:

The mamex emu works with hardware buttons, too and wihtout QT. I hope you can make a Version for all non Nokia Phones.
    Thomas

    • Summeli says:

The button code is standards Symbian stuff, so I could add it into the normal version too… But I’m actively working with Qt stuff, so it’s not on top of my todo list.

  21. Thomas says:

takes it a long time to integrate the button code in the Version 0.7? I have test the QT 4.7 beta but it doesnΒ΄t work on my i8910.

    • Summeli says:

After that someone is asking for the large dpad from next Qt release too πŸ™‚ I have to draw a line into somewhere, but I’ll see if I have some time to do one more release with avkon…

  22. Thomas says:

I know you are work on Qt. But it gives many people without a nokia Phone. A lot of people have other phones such as Samsung, Sony Ericsson, or Lg Phones. And on all this Phones is QT not working. For this reason i hope you integrate the button code in the normal Version, too. And i hope you can make the look of the normal Antsnes how the new Gpsp so without the green, yellow, red and blue buttons. IΒ΄m sure you make many of people very, very happy with this. including me. πŸ˜‰
(I know this all because i read many forums about Snes emus and a lot of people with symbian s60 V5 waiting for a working Snes emu. And any more i look at this side since you make the first Version of Antsnes for Symbian S60 V5. I test all Versions of this emu. And now it gives a way that this great emu runs finally on my i8910. Please summeli donΒ΄t leave us now.)
    Thomas

  23. Thomas says:

    Thanks summeli!

    • Summeli says:

I just spent couple of hours taking some fixes to the old AntSnes. I really hate the crappy avkon. I just don’t get the dpad right in there… Well it’s better than before, since now you can use red/green buttons, but it’s still crap. It feels like nothing is working as it should on the avkon side, and everything works as you would expect on the Qt side…
I just love Qt, and I’m really going to make all my stuff with that. It’s really not worth of the effort to continue with old S60 stuff.

  24. Thomas says:

I understand you realy summeli. You make a very great work. But i have believe that at least Antsnes run on my phone. The Antsnes would be enough. The Problem is the touch Pad, or?

    • Summeli says:

I added the new bigger dpad to the old one. It’s going to be a bit better than the previous one, but still not as good as the Qt. I’ll make one more release at the same time with the next Qt release. Well I think that this version could be playable with samsung and other phones…

  25. Thomas says:

great news summeli. Can you still make the display how the gpsp emu. (without the red, green, yellow and blue buttons and bigger screen) because the last version without Qt should be perfect. Thanks for this summeli. you make a great work. Then i wait for this version.

    • Summeli says:

yeah, the big d-pad is going to take space from that useless stuff. I also fixed the d-pad, so now it’s as good as it’s on the Qt version. This will be a good final release.
I’ll release it at the same time with next Qt version.

  26. Thomas says:

Great to hear that summeli. you are the best. Big thanks for this work. I hope anytime in the future that works QT on other Phones too. πŸ˜‰

  27. iRaptor says:

Summeli, give us a report about GPSP current status, please =)

  28. Sexaholic says:

Hey Summeli, do you know if I can add save files to a game? D=… For example lets say that I’m playing pokemon ruby, or saphire… when I play it and save the game it create a “PokemonRuby.sav” file and then I was putting there another save file with the same name and with the .sav at then end and the game don’t wanna appear D=… Do you know if i can do that ;o?
Btw this is a good emu! =)

  29. Diam says:

    Hi Summeli,
First of all, i thank you for everything, gpsp works great on my 5530, but theres a problem that, after i play half-way and i tried to save. Either i try to save or exit the game, it says “Memory full. Pls close some app and try agn.”
I wanted to go back to menu, but it didnt work. So…. i hope u would give me a solution for this. Thanks in advance

  34. Patrick says:

I find the touchscreen D-Pad a little hard to use (too small). It would be fantastic if the d-pad could be implemented using Qt Mobility Sensors (accelerometer),
    http://doc.qt.nokia.com/qtmobility-1.0/index.html#platform-compatibility
this would free up screen real estate, as well as make everything more playable.
In any even, great job, esp the Super Nes emulator, this one has a big enough D-Pad to make games very playable on my 5800 XM.

  35. hoalstromer says:

summeli ! why dont u add option for virtual onscreen button (A,B,L,R) also in this gba emulator .
those who do not want to use multi tap can make use of such buttons.
as it is the buttons of 5800 are delicate.

  36. jin says:
